Description

Product information "Patch cable LWL Duplex OM5 (Multimode, 50/125) LC/LC, LSZH, exchangeable polarity, 20m, Good Connections®"

Fiber optic (LWL) patch cables from Good Connections® make it possible to connect various network components with each other and ensure loss-free data transmission. Different quality classes (OMx/OSx) facilitate the qualitative and functional differentiation of a fiber optic patch cable. High quality standards, 100% testing and individual measurement protocol The use of high-quality materials and modern production facilities as well as continuous quality controls during the production process ensure loss-free signal transmission and consistently high quality. Each individual patch cable undergoes a test after assembly. After successful measurement, an individual measurement/test protocol is attached to each patch cable. Previous multimode fibers are optimized for an optical window or wavelength range of 850 nm. Outside this window, the signals are strongly attenuated, so that Ethernet signals must be transmitted over several multimode fibers connected in parallel. For example, 10 Gigabit Ethernet requires two fibers (one fiber for transmitting = transmit, one for receiving = receive). In 40 or 100 Gigabit Ethernet applications, signals are split over eight fibers (2x four fibers at 10 or 25 Gigabit/s) or 20 fibers (2x ten fibers at 10 Gigabit/s). OM5 technology therefore uses a broadband optimized multimode fiber (Wideband Multimode Fiber WBMMF). In combination with SWDM technology (Short Wave Division Multiplexing) a wider optical window can be used. Therefore four different wavelengths from 850 nm to 950 nm can be used. Each individual wavelength can operate at data rates of 25 Gbit/s. This reduces the number of fibers by a factor of four compared to OM4. Instead of more complex multi-fiber connectors such as the MPO connector, simpler and more cost-effective fiber optic duplex connectors can be used. Compatibility Good Connections® OM5 fiber optic patch cords are fully backward compatible with previous versions (OM2, OM3 and OM4). They can therefore be easily integrated into existing installations.
